Are you a fresher-to-be? Did you get your preferred course? Do you want to switch? Read here how to apply for inter faculty transfer at University of Nairobi

I have received many phone calls and emails asking how to go about an inter-faculty (also intra-faculty) transfer at public universities in Kenya. Well, I knocked a few doors at the mother University, UoN, and documented the process.

I guess it should probably be the same at other PUBLIC universities.

Here is how to at UoN!

Inter-Faculty Transfer

All government sponsored students are required to make a request for transfer through the student portal. Government sponsored students can visit their School for guidance on how to use the system to apply for a transfer. This is to be done within the first 2 weeks of receiving the admission letter. The transfer attracts a fee of KES 1000.

Module II Applicants (commonly known as parallel) interested in a transfer must meet the requisite admission requirements for the particular course they intend to pursue. The transfer will only be effected if the applicant’s KCSE cluster points and passmark for specific subjects meet the admission requirements.

Applicants are required to pay a transfer fee of KES 1,000 (Bank Details: ACC NO: 030948245531 Barclays Bank of Kenya, Queensway Branch)

Once payment is done; applicants should write a letter to the Academic Registrar; through the Dean (of the admitting school) through the Dean of the school the applicant wishes to transfer to. They should attach a copy of the receipt and a copy of the admission letter.

Students who will have succeeded in their application for transfer will receive an official letter of transfer from the Academic Registrar and will be expected to report and register in their new courses immediately.

Approvals are issued within 2 weeks of request. If approval is granted; the student is issued a new student registration Number. The transfer window for new students is the first two weeks of the first semester.

Intra-Faculty Transfer

Applicants interested in intra-faculty transfer should pay a transfer fee of KES 1,000 (Bank Details: ACC NO: 030948245531 Barclays Bank of Kenya, Queensway Branch) and submit a written request to the Academic Registrar  through the dean and through the Head of Department and await approval.
