Inter university transfer in Kenya – KUCCPS – How to

How do you apply for an inter-university transfer? As usual, we break down the steps for you, to make it easy, the elimuadvisor way.

But, some assumptions first;

  • You have been placed to join a university (public or private) via the government sponsored programmes (KUCCPS).
  • You are joining first year – > freshman (i.e. you are not a continuing student)
  • You have met the cut-off points (check the cut-off points for your programme here)

This process is done online, thanks to KUCCPS. They have consistently automated their services, confirming that we are indeed in the silicon savannah 🙂

  1. Open the students portal on the KUCCPS website
  2. Log in with your index number, KSCE year and birth certificate number.
  3. Click on the TRANSFER link.
  4. You will be asked to pay (via MPESA) a fee of Ksh 1,000
  5. Allow sometime for the system to update your payment
  6. Fill in the online inter-institution transfer form.
    • Select the programme you want to transfer to, put the PROGRAMME CODE in the inter-institution transfer field.
    • You will only be allowed to proceed to the next step if you meet the cutoff and minimum requirements
    • Fill in the reason for the Transfer Application. NOTE: This field is mandatory
  7. Download and print the completed form.

*The form is serialized with a unique number for authenticity. No other form is acceptable.

  1. Present this form to the institution you wish to transfer to for endorsement.
    • In the event your transfer is rejected, return the form, duly filled as rejected, to the Placement Service. This will allow you to try a transfer another institution.
  2. Once you have secured a place to transfer to in your institution of choice, present the form to the institution which you were initially placed to for a release of your placement.
  3. Return the forms to the Placement Service for final approval and validation.
    • The Placement Service will update your records according.
    • Once your application has been processed you will be contacted to collect your transfer letter which you will present to the institution you are transferring to for admission and joining instructions.
